Sonia Congress and many NGOs financed by unfriendly states object to the FRCA, which the BJP wants to pass through Parliament to legalize action against wrongdoer NGOs.

In Kerala Sonia Congress is in the government supporting other party. Sonia Congress supports FRCA and tried its best to delay it. It's sitting just 10 nautical miles from major global shipping lanes. Centre had intelligence that two NGOs allegedly used FOREIGN FUNDS to fuel protests against the project & refused to renew their FCRA licences. > Kerala High Court has now set aside that order. The court held that a peaceful protest cannot be treated as an “UNDESIRABLE purpose” under FCRA, even if financial support was provided. Centre’s argument was: When national security & foreign funding for undesirable activities are involved, authorities must retain the discretion to act🎯 The Court disagreed. One of the NGOs was also allowed to use ₹16 crore received earlier. Strategic national project vs foreign-funded agitation. The legal battle continues.

What exactly is objectionable about that? Around 16,200 registered organisations received nearly ₹23,000 crore in foreign contributions in 2024–25 alone. So please spare us the fiction that the FCRA Bill will “shut down civil society”. What is being tightened is accountability. And suddenly there is panic. We are told regulating foreign-funded NGOs is an attack on democracy. 
Since when did democracy mean that an unelected organisation financed from another country acquires a constitutional right to operate without rigorous scrutiny?  2:34PM 7 August 2026
