As detailed in the Indian Express, the report does not mention the money trail. The money is not sent back via drones but through Hawala transactions, with Dubai being one of the exchange centres. The Government of India and the Government of Punjab need to carry out a thorough operation to block these Hawala transactions. There are notorious, well-connected Hawala dealers in Amritsar, Jalandhar, and other cities who must be brought to justice. No one is likely to supply drugs to Punjab without involving money transactions, except those aimed at targeting Punjabi youth as a state policy by Pakistan's ISI to entrap them in drug addiction. A fully empowered and resourceful Joint Special Working Group of the GOI and GOP is needed to combat Hawala in drug trafficking. Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat should be included. After the show, the owner met me and introduced a middle-aged couple. The man,who introduced himself as a Sarpanch in a Punjab village before coming to Canada, said they weren’t getting" / X coming to Canada, said they weren’t getting Indian passports because of being refugees there. When I enquired about the reason for seeking asylum, he said they were being harassed in Punjab. Strangely, he claimed the harassment years after the terrorism was wiped out. Hence, they migrated to Canada and got asylum, he said. He couldn’t give a satisfactory answer when I asked for the police case details, etc., if any. I further asked why they chose to migrate thousands of miles away when they could have shifted to some other state in India itself. Finally, he almost admitted that they wanted to migrate, and no excuse other than concocting the false case of atrocities would have helped them obtain asylum. I said what I had to say to them about their defaming their own country, making fictitious accusations for selfish interests, as it was like abusing their own mother. 2. Hoshiarpur Bus Massacre (November 1986) - Four heavily armed militants hijacked a public bus near Tanda in the Hoshiarpur district. They forced Hindu passengers to step off the bus and opened fire. The attack resulted in 24 deaths and 7 injuries.

3. Lalru Bus Massacre (July 1987) - Militants linked to the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) hijacked a Haryana Roadways bus near Lalru village in Mohali district. They opened fire, killing 38 passengers and injuring 33 others. Most of the victims were Hindu pilgrims traveling to Rishikesh. 

4. Fatehabad Bus Killings (July 1987)- Militants hijacked a Firozpur-Delhi bus near Fatehabad in Haryana. The attackers shot and killed 30 passengers on the bus.  5:29PM 8 June 2026

  Hate is pervasive and spreads like fire on alcohol. It may not be visible till it takes an ugly turn. Historical memories, political and social leaders exacerbate hate between groups. Political and religious leaders increase prejudice. Fire tenders keep on burning the issues, which can take an ugly direction once political leaders use hate to woo the voters before the election. 

Indira Gandhi nurtured Sant Bhinderwale against the Akali Dal Political Party of Punjab. Sant Bhinderwale started as a religious preacher in August 1977, heading Damdami Taksal. Sant Bhinderwale encouraged young Sikhs to take Amrit, initiation into Sikhism, and lead a Khalsa (Pure) life. During this period, many pro Khalistani group developed, such as Babbar Khalsa. The idea to form a separate Khalistani State was initiated by the colonial power in the 1930s, when the British accepted the fact that it was better to divide the religious groups of India. Held inside the White House complex on Thursday, the meeting was attended by Pritpal Singh of the American Sikh Caucus Committee and representatives from the Sikh Coalition and Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund (SALDEF).

“Through this bill, Congress sends a strong message to both allies and adversaries that violating the constitutional rights of Americans will not be tolerated,” SALDEF said.

"Earlier this week, Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun filed a civil lawsuit against the Government of India and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval after which the US District Court for the Southern District of New York issued summons in the case.

The lawsuit has been filed against the Government of India and Doval and Nikhil Gupta, who has been charged by federal prosecutors in an indictment unsealed in November last year with working with an Indian government employee in the foiled plot to kill Pannun.
