Kiran Bedi

Kiran Bedi (@thekiranbedi) / X

Respect is one of the first values we learn from our parents and teachers. Disagreement is natural in a democracy, but disrespect should never become the language of public discourse.
The repeated airing of disrespectful remarks in the media is distasteful and disturbing. We must remember that younger generations are watching, listening, and learning from the way we conduct ourselves. Freedom of speech comes with the responsibility of restraint. We can be assertive without being abusive, critical without being contemptuous, and firm without losing our dignity. An appeal to all spokespersons: Please exercise restraint while expressing your views and asserting your right to free speech. Let us uphold the values of mutual respect, civility, and responsible public discourse. We may disagree in our opinions, but we must not lose respect for one another. 4:52PM 11 October 2026

Kiran Bedi on X: "Governance of a continent like India with largest population in the world, is the toughest responsibility anyone can shoulder. Count our blessings. We all have rights. We all have responsibilities. Depends on what we prioritise. These are individual choices we make daily." / X 4:52PM 11 October 2026
