24 hours before the end of Trump's deadline to Iran, Tehran, according to The New York Times, handed over its 10 conditions to the American side via Pakistan: in response to Trump's 15 conditions, with the clear complete absence of trust: 1- Guarantee no future aggression, 2- Complete end to the war, not just a ceasefire, 3- Halt Israeli strikes on Lebanon, 4- Lift and cancel all sanctions on Iran, 5- End all military operations against Iran's allies in the region, 6- In return, Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz, 7- Iran imposes a $2 million transit fee on ships, 8- Iran shares the $2 million transit fee for each ship with the Sultanate of Oman, 9- Iran sets the regulations and rules for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz,

Non-aggression, Iran's continued control over the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of uranium enrichment, lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, repeal of all UN Security Council resolutions and Board of Governors resolutions, payment of reparations to Iran, withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from the region, and cessation of the war on all fronts, including the fight against the heroic Islamic Resistance of Lebanon. We congratulate the entire Iranian people on this victory and emphasize that, until the details of it are finalized, the firmness and prudence of officials remain necessary, as does the preservation of unity and solidarity among the Iranian people. Islamic Iran, along with the brave mujahideen of the Resistance in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and occupied Palestine, has dealt the enemy blows that world historical memory will never forget in the last 40 days. Iran and the Axis of Resistance, as representatives of honor and humanity against the most savage enemies of humanity, have given them, after a historic battle, an unforgettable lesson and have completely destroyed their forces, capabilities, infrastructure, and all their political, economic, technological, and military capital, to such an extent that the enemy now finds itself plunged into disintegration and despair, seeing no other path than to surrender to the will of the great Iranian nation and the noble Axis of the Resistance. On the first day, the criminal enemies of Iran launched this unjust war. They imagined they would achieve total military dominance over Iran in a short time and force it to submit by creating political and social instability. They thought Iranian missiles and drones would be quickly neutralized and did not believe Iran could respond with such force beyond its borders and across the entire region. The malicious global Zionism had convinced the naive U.S. president that this war would end Iran and that, by eliminating this last bastion of humanity, they could commit any crime against anyone they wanted with ease. They dreamed of dividing beloved Iran, plundering its oil and wealth, and ultimately leaving the Iranians adrift in chaos, instability, and insecurity for years.

In contrast, the United States: • Failed to overthrow or change the regime. • Failed to stop the Iranian missiles. • Has not yet succeeded, to this point, in extracting Iran’s stockpile of uranium. • Failed to impose a clear surrender on the Iranians. • Failed to sever the ties between Iran and its regional allies. • Rather, it created a rift between Washington and its regional allies.

But I’ll make these short points: (1) Trump still thinks he can bludgeon Iran into submission. In other words, hit Iran hard enough and the “new, more reasonable" / X Trump keeps talking about will sign on the dotted line. But the theory has been tested over the last 5+ weeks: the U.S. has conducted 12,000+ strikes across the full spectrum of Iranian military targets, and Tehran’s negotiating position hasn’t changed.
(2) I wish Trump would stop putting Venezuela and Iran in the same sentence. You’re not going to pull off the Venezuela-style scenario in Iran, particularly when the Iranians have now learned that they can leverage their influence in the oil markets to cause economic pain. I’m not sure if Trump genuinely believes Iran would allow Washington to run its oil industry like the Venezuelans have, but if he does, the guy is more delusional than I thought. (3) The White House is obviously upset NATO isn’t participating in the war or helping with the Strait of Hormuz, but being an ally doesn’t mean you have to enable your other ally’s poor decision-making or automatically support a dumb policy. (4) Threatening war crimes is now part of the U.S. foreign policy playbook.  
(5) Trump is facing three options: escalate, depart or negotiate a settlement. I think the third option is the least likely since Tehran is asking for a lot; Tehran doesn’t trust anything Trump says; the last year-plus of U.S.-Iran talks is hardly encouraging; and Trump doesn’t believe he needs to give the Iranians anything. The economic impact in the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia would be profound, and last years. The chances of a depression - not merely a recession - would be high, as it would take many years to repair the damage, even after the war would end. We have put Iran in a no-win position, and desperate gov's take desperate actions when their physical lives are in the balance. We have spent too many years lying to Iran, pretending to be in diplomatic talks to resolve thorny issues, only to be exposed as having been using the discussion to buy time to build up military power for an attack. As a result, now that we really need a diplomatic solution, we don't have the credibility to seek one, because they no longer trust us.  From Iran's point of view, it would be irrational to trust the US to make good on any terms it negotiated, if it means surrendering its point of greatest leverage: control of the Straits of Hormuz. Worse, Trump again today bragged that he really wants to seize Iran's oil, like he stole it from Venezuela last year.  These kinds of lies and thefts can have immediate apparent benefit to the Trump team, but the costs could be profound in the medium term, especially if they lead desperate actors to take shocking actions, like returning our fire against our allies in the region.

Excellency, I am writing, as a follow-up to my letter S/2026/216 dated 23 March 2026, to bring to your attention the continuous armed attacks by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against several safeguarded nuclear facilities and installations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, notably the active Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, an installation devoted exclusively to peaceful purposes and operating under the IAEA’s comprehensive safeguards regime. These unlawful attacks expose the entire region to the risk of radioactive contamination with grave humanitarian and environmental consequences, and as such shall not be left unattended. Within a span of nine months, two wars of aggression have been imposed upon the Islamic Republic of Iran, by the US, a depository of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons(NPT) and Israel, an outlaw regime that remains outside the framework of the NPT. In both instances, Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities were attacked and bombed, and with grave disappointment, the United Nations Security Council, the IAEA Board of Governors and its Director General have flatly failed from even condemning the illegal attacks, let alone undertaking effective measures within their mandate to prevent their recurrence. Now the US Senior officials, who label international humanitarian law as “stupid,” have gained the audacity to state that nuclear facilities are among their targets. The United States’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations has openly expressed that attacks against the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is not off the table! Such recklessness is the direct consequence of the inaction of the United Nations and the Agency regarding the manifest acts of aggression by the United States and the Israeli regimes, which has only emboldened the aggressors. This course of unlawful attacks inflicted irreparable blow upon the credibility of the United Nations, the Security Council, the IAEA, and its safeguards system. It is disturbing that since beginning of this criminal war on 28 February 2026, the following attacks have been made by the aggressors against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and installations, without any outright condemnation being heard from relevant international bodies: - On 1 March, the Natanz nuclear facility was attacked two times; - On 17 March, a structure just 350 meters away from the active Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was attacked; - On 21 March, several points in Natanz nuclear facility were bombed; - On 24 March, a projectile struck within the broader perimeter of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant site; - On 27 March, Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant site was attacked for the third time; - On 27 March, the Heavy Water Production Plant at Khondab-Arak was attacked; - On 27 March, Ardakan-Yazd Uranium Processing Site was bombed. The aggressors’ repeated strikes in the vicinity of the active Nuclear Power Plant in Bushehr is extremely alarming; their proximity to an active nuclear facility constitutes an intolerable escalation, entailing a grave risk of radiological release. As already highlighted in my letter dated 23 March 2026, such attacks constitute a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 487 (1981), as well as the decisions and resolutions of the IAEA, including GC(53)/DEC/13 and GC(XXIX)/RES/443, GC(XXIX)/RES/444, and GC(XXXIV)/RES/533. These attacks also constitute a serious breach of the fundamental principles and rules of international humanitarian law. Article 56 of the 1977 Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions provides absolute and heightened protection for works and installations containing dangerous forces, including nuclear electrical generating stations, expressly prohibiting their being made the object of attack where such action may result in the release of hazardous forces and severe consequences for the civilian population. The deliberate targeting of areas in the vicinity of such facilities, undertaken with full awareness of the inherent risk of radiological release, constitutes a manifest violation of these peremptory safeguards, thereby exposing civilian populations—both within the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and throughout the wider region—to grave and unprecedented danger. Moreover, Article 55 of Additional Protocol I obligates parties to any armed conflict to ensure the protection of the natural environment against damage that is widespread, long-term, and severe. The methods and means of warfare employed by the U.S/Israeli regime’ aggression, give rise to a substantial risk of environmental devastation, including the potential for radioactive contamination of the Persian Gulf, the regional atmosphere, terrestrial ecosystems, and critical natural resources. Such harm would not be confined within national borders but would inevitably extend to neighboring States, thereby endangering public health, ecological balance, and the economic sustenance of the entire population. Excellency, Recent developments have demonstrated that transparency and cooperation with the Agency cannot, in and of themselves, be relied upon as guarantees of national security, the protection of national interests, or the inalienable rights of States to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. I reiterate my warning that, should the United Nations Security Council and the Board of Governors of the IAEA remain indifferent in the face of manifest illegal attacks against Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities, the Member States’ may lose confidence in the United Nations, the Agency, and the broader non-proliferation regime will be further eroded. The consequences of such inaction would not be confined to Iran. Excellency, I avail of this opportunity to also register the formal protest and profound concern of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the IAEA Director General’s recent statements, which constitute a serious departure from official mandate of his office and are in violation of the Statute of the IAEA and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA). In the course of various media interviews conducted during March 2026, the Director General has disclosed sensitive safeguards-related information concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. In light of past adverse experiences and the demonstrated misuse of confidential and sensitive information provided to the Agency, such conducts—should they contribute to or facilitate further attacks against Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities—may engage the international responsibility of the Agency. Furthermore, the Director General’s recent statement suggesting the likelihood of the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, which risks normalizing the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons against a State Party to the NPT and its peaceful nuclear facilities, are deeply reprehensible and alarming. Such positions have resulted in a serious erosion to confidence in the integrity of the non-proliferation regime, IAEA safeguards system, and the impartiality of the Agency and its Director General. The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly lodged formal protests and issued explicit warnings regarding this approach, both prior to and following the acts of aggressions of June 2025 and February 2026. Regrettably, there appears to be no indication that the Agency intends to rectify past errors or to adhere to a professional, impartial, and technically grounded approach consistent with the IAEA Statute and the CSA. I would be grateful if this letter could be formally registered as a document of the United Nations Security Council and also circulated as an INFCIRC document of the IAEA. Seyed Abbas Araghchi

When the president of the world’s most powerful country speaks, we must take him seriously from both a legal and ethical perspective. What Trump wrote is not a passing opinion, but a statement with direct legal consequences. The UN Charter prohibits the threat of force, not just the act itself. Talking about “sending Iran back to the Stone Age” is not a metaphor but a threat of comprehensive destruction to civilian infrastructure. This borders on the logic of collective punishment, which is legally prohibited. When targets like electricity and bridges are named, the threat becomes specific and accountable. The Strait of Hormuz is not managed by warnings, but by the rules of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. And there is no legitimacy to imposing them by force outside the law. Self-defense requires necessity and proportionality, both of which are absent. Targeting infrastructure threatens the principles of distinction and proportionality in the Geneva Conventions. And the words of leaders are attributed to the state and may be used before the International Court of Justice. Ethically, this is discourse that legitimizes total destruction and makes the idea of wiping out an entire society seem as if it were a natural thing. The danger is not in war alone, but in priming human minds to accept what reason and law cannot accept.

The first step should be a ceasefire and a guarantee of no aggression by the USA and Israel. Trust can be developed when Russia, China, the UK, and India agree to take action if the war is started again by Israel and the USA. This peace initiative will lead to the formation of a new structure and architecture of the United Nations. With the new development of science and technology, there should be only two states in the world. One should be known as the Eastern States of the World, and the second should be the Western States of the World. Small states and nationalism do not exist in today's world, developed and expanded by great America and the elites of the world. By accepting the above formula, cultural variations between North and South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Germany, France will disappear in the United States of East. And Trump will agree by taking over Canada, Greenland, Venezuela, and South American states. That shall be known as the United States of West, which shall be governed by the same federal system envisioned by the great founders of the civilization, with all the checks and balances experimented with by West.
Each state shall be independent but governed by the United States of East and West, as India and China are governing three billion people of the world. How Iran Should End the War | Foreign Affairs Mr Javed Zarif suggested some points for peace and stability of that area. I do not agree, for it agrees on the main issues of not enriching Uranium. Main is the trust deficit created by Trump's administration. The first step should be a ceasefire on both sides (Iran versus Israel and the USA). No agreement can be valid without Russia, China, and the GCC. Israel and America should be afraid of starting a war against Iran. Involvement of Russia, China, India, and European powers must be included. It is a world war, and all states are affected by this war. By adopting this new United Nations shall take place.


For months, the world has watched, stunned, as the spectacle unfolds of a White House that insults its allies, threatens to leave NATO, grants pardons to criminals, multiplies insider trading offenses, prioritizes business over diplomacy, practices open-air corruption, flatters Putin, compares its president to Jesus Christ, launches a war without consulting anyone, blocks the Strait of Hormuz, and rewrites electoral rules to never lose again. And in the meantime? The deafening silence of the international community. Not total, of course. There are press releases, "concerns," "calls for dialogue," diplomatically furrowed brows at well-organized summits, firm declarations that commit to nothing and worry no one—and certainly not Trump. But actions? A coalition that says stop, not with words but with real consequences? A leader, an institution, a power that decides this farce has gone on long enough and it's time to turn the page? Nothing. There's Spain, sure, but it seems pretty isolated. Are we so dependent, so entangled, so paralyzed that no one will truly move? Are we naive enough to believe the final outcome will hinge on American elections—the very elections this administration is methodically rigging? The SAVE Act to restrict voting rights. Gerrymandering imposed state by state. The threat of ICE federal agents at polling stations. Organized disinformation to erode trust in the results... Waiting for Trump to be defeated at the ballot box is betting on a game whose rules he's changing in real time. It's absurd and dangerous. And for now, it's the only plan the world seems to have. Ridiculous and pathetic! History will judge harshly those who watched. Who knew. And who did nothing because it was complicated, costly, risky—because economic dependence, strategic interests, fear of the future all weighed more heavily than defending what generations have fought for. Enough of the speeches that go nowhere. Enough of the careful balancing act that leaves your own people next on the list. Pick up the phone. Call the Russians, the Chinese, whoever still has a spine left in this circus. Send aid convoys across the border tonight. Close the straits to every warship that smells of this madness. Tell Washington and Tel Aviv in language they understand that Turkey will not be the next domino. George Washington had grasped an essential truth of asymmetric warfare: the weak must not fight like the strong. When the American War of Independence began in 1775, the military situation of the insurgents was catastrophic. The British army was the most powerful in the world. It had a dominant navy, experienced officers, and professional troops, etc. Facing it, Washington commanded an improvised army made up of poorly equipped and poorly trained militiamen. Washington immediately understood that a decisive battle would lead to the destruction of the revolution. He therefore adopted a strategy radically different from the European military tradition. His goal was not to quickly defeat the British army, but... to preserve the existence of the Continental Army. His rule was simple: as long as the American army exists, the revolution exists! He avoided frontal confrontations, practiced harassment, withdrew when necessary, and carefully chose his engagements. The winter at Valley Forge in 1777-1778 became the symbol of this resistance strategy: despite hunger, cold, and desertions... the army survived. This "survival" allowed the war to last long enough to transform the conflict into a political crisis for London. French intervention in 1778 then shifted the strategic balance. The final victory came in 1781 at the Battle of Yorktown, when the British army of General Cornwallis capitulated. Washington did not win, then, by crushing the enemy in the old-fashioned way, but by refusing to disappear, patiently, and by never seeking a decisive confrontation. His strategic genius lies in this fundamental intuition: in an asymmetric war, surviving is a form of victory.

Can Iran defeat the United States? The answer has already been given by America's allies.
Two statements were made in the same week. They appear to have no connection between them. Trump: "I'm seriously considering withdrawing from NATO." UK Prime Minister Starmer: "We need to build deeper relations with Europe." One side is considering withdrawal. The other side is turning elsewhere. But when you put these two statements side by side, you see a truth that no one is saying. Let me explain... In the US-Iran war, the US wanted to use its bases and airspace in Europe. - Spain refused. - Italy refused. It did not allow US aircraft to land. - France refused. It closed its airspace to Iranian operations. - Poland refused. - Germany said, "This is not our war." - The UK said, "We will not enter the war." US Secretary of State Rubio asked: "If the answer is no when we need NATO bases, why are we in NATO?" Now stop and think. These countries don't act emotionally. They have intelligence units. Analysts are working. Field intelligence is coming in. Satellite images are being examined. Projections for every scenario are being made. Reports are put on the table before decisions are made. Possible outcomes are analyzed. Ray Dalio says on this subject: "In my private conversations with top politicians in other countries, I always hear the same thing. Trump talks well. But when things get tough, can he fight and win?" This question isn't just heard by Dalio. The same question is on Europe's intelligence tables. "When things get tough, can he fight and win?" There's a simple rule in history that never changes. No one rejects the winning side. Think about it this way. A country enters a war. It wins. As it wins, its allies increase. Everyone wants to be on its side. Because being on the winner's side is safe. Being on the winner's side is profitable. But no one joins the losing side. Everyone distances themselves from the side that's going to lose. Now look at America's allies. All of them have distanced themselves from the US. The UK has been America's closest ally for 50 years. The relationship between the two countries is different from all other alliances. Even the UK said "no." They're not just saying no. Prime Minister Starmer makes a statement: "We will build deeper relations with Europe." And it's not just Europe. Look at the Gulf countries. These countries have been buying weapons from the US for decades. They spent trillions of dollars. Patriot systems. THAAD systems. Iran bypassed these systems with $35,000 drones. Billion-dollar defense systems couldn't stop $35,000 drones. Everyone is doing the same calculation. No one says it openly. But everyone is moving in the same direction. They're pulling away. Those on the ground confirm this. The Strait of Hormuz has largely been unable to be opened for about a month. Iran continues to launch missiles every day. It has missile facilities hundreds of meters deep. The US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff admitted: With current technology, destroying these facilities will take time. All of this is sitting on Europe's intelligence tables as reports. - The Strait of Hormuz hasn't been opened for a month. - Some missile facilities can't be destroyed. - The troop numbers are insufficient for a ground operation. - The geography favors Iran. All the countries reading these reports reach the same conclusion. Can America really win? Because no country enters a war it knows it will lose. Ray Dalio analyzed the rise and fall of great empires. And he found one unchanging rule. Money and power always flow to the winner. They flee from the loser. So, is a deal possible between the US and Iran? Ray Dalio's answer: No. "Everyone knows that no deal will resolve this war." No matter what, whether the Strait of Hormuz remains in Iran's hands or the US's, the coming period will be the worst phase of the conflict. The outcome of this war will reshape history. Its effects won't be limited to the Middle East. Trade flows will change. Capital flows will change. If America wins: Confidence in the dollar increases. Allies draw closer. America's power is confirmed. If America loses: The dollar weakens. Allies pull away. BRICS strengthens. China's rise accelerates. This is my personal analysis. Yet it has resolutely and bravely repelled those who have attacked it. The Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries. Even in the face of repeated foreign interventions and pressures throughout their proud history, Iranians have consistently drawn a clear distinction between governments and the peoples they govern. This is a deeply rooted principle in Iranian culture and collective consciousness—not a temporary political stance.
For this reason, portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with present-day observable facts. Such a perception is the product of political and economic whims of the powerful— the need to manufacture an enemy in order to justify pressure, maintain military dominance, sustain the arms industry, and control strategic markets. In such an environment, if a threat does not exist, it is invented. Within this same framework, the United States has concentrated the largest number of its forces, bases, and military capabilities around Iran—a country that, at least since the founding of the United States, has never initiated a war. Recent American aggressions launched from these very bases have demonstrated how threatening such a military presence truly is. Naturally, no country confronted with such conditions would forgo strengthening its defensive capabilities. What Iran has done—and continues to do—is a measured response grounded in legitimate self-defense, and by no means an initiation of war or aggression. Relations between Iran and the United States were not originally hostile, and early interactions between the Iranian and American people were not marred with hostility or tension. The turning point, however, was the 1953 coup d’état—an illegal American intervention aimed at preventing the nationalization of Iran’s own resources. That coup disrupted Iran’s democratic process, reinstated dictatorship, and sowed deep distrust among Iranians toward U.S. policies. This distrust deepened further with America’s support for the Shah’s regime, its backing of Saddam Hussein during the imposed war of the 1980s, the imposition of the longest and most comprehensive sanctions in modern history, and ultimately, unprovoked military aggression—twice, in the midst of negotiations—against Iran. Yet all these pressures have failed to weaken Iran. On the contrary, the country has grown stronger in many areas: literacy rates have tripled—from roughly 30% before the Islamic Revolution to over 90% today; higher education has expanded dramatically; significant advances have been achieved in modern technology; healthcare services have improved; and infrastructure has developed at a pace and scale incomparable to the past. These are measurable, observable realities that stand independent of fabricated narratives. At the same time, the destructive and inhumane impact of sanctions, war, and aggression on the lives of the resilient Iranian people must not be underestimated. The continuation of military aggression and recent bombings profoundly affect people’s lives, attitudes, and perspectives. This reflects a fundamental human truth: when war inflicts irreparable harm on lives, homes, cities, and futures, people will not remain indifferent toward those responsible. This raises a fundamental question: Exactly which of the American people’s interests are truly being served by this war? Was there any objective threat from Iran to justify such behavior? Does the massacre of innocent children, the destruction of cancer-treatment pharmaceutical facilities, or boasting about bombing a country “back to the stone ages” serve any purpose other than further damaging the United States’ global standing? Iran pursued negotiations, reached an agreement, and fulfilled all its commitments. The decision to withdraw from that agreement, escalate toward confrontation, and launch two acts of aggression in the midst of negotiations were destructive choices made by the U.S. government—choices that served the delusions of a foreign aggressor. Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure—including energy and industrial facilities—directly targets the Iranian people. Beyond constituting a war crime, such actions carry consequences that extend far beyond Iran’s borders. They generate instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate cycles of tension, planting seeds of resentment that will endure for years. This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic bewilderment and an inability to achieve a sustainable solution. Is it not also the case that America has entered this aggression as a proxy for Israel, influenced and manipulated by that regime? Is it not true that Israel, by manufacturing an Iranian threat, seeks to divert global attention away from its crimes toward the Palestinians? Is it not evident that Israel now aims to fight Iran to the last American soldier and the last American taxpayer dollar—shifting the burden of its delusions onto Iran, the region, and the United States itself in pursuit of illegitimate interests? Is “America First” truly among the priorities of the U.S. government today? I invite you to look beyond the machinery of misinformation—an integral part of this aggression—and instead speak with those who have visited Iran. Observe the many accomplished Iranian immigrants—educated in Iran—who now teach and conduct research at the world’s most prestigious universities, or contribute to the most advanced technology firms in the West. Do these realities align with the distortions you are being told about Iran and its people? 
Today, the world stands at crossroads. Continuing along the path of confrontation is more costly and futile than ever before. The choice between confrontation and engagement is both real and consequential; its outcome will shape the future for generations to come. Throughout its millennia of proud history, Iran has outlasted many aggressors. But it's not a symptom of madness; it's a very specific political strategy designed by his 2016 campaign chief and later White House strategist during Trump's first term: Steve Bannon.
Bannon himself explained in an interview what the communication strategy was that they considered necessary: "flood the information space." What does this mean? First, generating such a volume of messages, controversies, and statements that the media can't process it all and the public can't distinguish the relevant from the incidental, thus overwhelming the capacity for analysis. It's not just about communicating, but about altering the entire information ecosystem, even affecting our cognitive capacities.
Added to this is the multiplication of simultaneous narratives: different versions of the same fact, constant changes in position, and a deliberate mix of data, opinion, and fiction. Trump does this systematically: he asserts one thing, denies it, reformulates his goals, and shifts them again without needing to correct himself. There's no acknowledgment of error because the logic isn't coherence, but rather the permanent occupation of discursive space.
Another central element is speed. Messages circulate faster than their verification. Before an item of information can be checked, it's already been replaced by another new controversy that shifts the focus. This not only makes analysis difficult but introduces a dynamic of saturation that favors polarization and immediate reaction.
The result is a scenario characterized by disorientation, information fatigue, the normalization of extremes, and the weakening of journalism, which gets trapped in a reactive logic. Even media outlets with some tradition end up reproducing statements as if they were facts, when within minutes they've been replaced by new ones. Media that already had their ideology, but now they're not just doing propaganda—they're making complete fools of themselves.
That's why we should avoid paying attention to anything Donald Trump says and base ourselves solely on what the available data can demonstrate. A broken clock gives the right time twice a day, but let's not forget that every time the president opens his mouth, it's above all to confuse us all. On March 10, on the 11th day of the war, trump asked the Iranians to reopen the Hormuz Strait, saying he would hit Iran "20 times hard" if they didn't. They didn't. On March 21, he threatened to strike Iran's power plants unless Hormuz is opened in 48 hours. [ 5 days, 10 days] Iran did not open it. Trump extended the deadline--not once, but twice. He has sent a proposal to Iran through the Pakistanis while at the same time sending more troops to West Asia. He said two days ago a deal was possible, but today he threatened to strike Iran's vital civilian infra if Iran did not make a deal. With more troops and threats of a ground offensive and massive air strike, trump is putting pressure on Iran to make concessions so that he can declare victory and move back. he is doing the same thing again and again expecting different outcomes. Now the first war has broken out, the GCC nations have quickly realized that this was a one-sided deal. Allowing US military bases on their soil and letting the US use their airspace and land to launch attacks against Iran has put a target on their backs. Instead of being defended, the US pulled air defense equipment out of the GCC to defend Israel, and now they are being threatened to join the war against Iran or face consequences. Iran is in full control of the Strait of Hormuz and is letting ships through if oil is paid in yuan, not in USD. A decoupling from the US with new defense alliances makes sense for the GCC.

The duty of any state compels it to respond with full force in such cases. This is an inherent right explicitly enshrined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The claim "that we are not a party to the war" is insufficient. We have heard such statements before and welcomed them, because all countries are well aware that allowing the use of their territories to launch an attack on another country constitutes a violation of international law and makes them a party to the aggression. The nature of a government, whether democratic or authoritarian, is irrelevant to them; what matters is compliance to whatever they see as right. This contradiction is evident in the justification for regime change in Libya under the pretext that Colonel Gaddafi was a dictator, the persistent hostility toward Iran’s Islamic Republic under the same retrogressive and imperial foreign policy, and the simultaneous alliance with authoritarian regimes in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. It also explains how figures such as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, once designated a terrorist with a ten million dollar bounty on his head, could later emerge as a political leader in Syria with Western blessings when strategic interests aligned. It further illustrates why Nelson Mandela remained on a terrorist list until as late as 2008!! There is no genuine negotiation in such a system, only coercion and subjugation of nations deemed weak. Control of the global financial system, anchored by the dominance of the petrol dollar (a Ponzi Scheme!), reinforces this stupid hierarchy. Many in Africa assume that such pressure is reserved for larger states such as Russia, Iran, or North Korea, but that is a dangerous illusion. Smaller nations are equally vulnerable. Malawi itself experienced this dynamic during the presidency of Bingu wa Mutharika, when a same sex couple was arrested in 2010 after holding a traditional wedding ceremony that contravened Malawian law. They were sentenced, yet within days, under pressure from the Obama administration and the international community threatening to withdraw aid, they were pardoned. Shortly thereafter, Malawi experienced significant unrest and economic deterioration following tensions with Western partners, including the expulsion of British diplomats and disengagement from the IMF, underscoring how swiftly sovereignty can be constrained and undermined, affecting us all in the end. The empire seeks universal conformity to its values and interests despite the fact that this imperial nation does not itself agree on most of these contentious issues including this illegal war. The hypocrisy! And Where persuasion fails, coercion follows. In resisting this pressure, Iran is not merely asserting its own sovereignty but challenging a global world order that demands submission to one country. In that resistance lies a broader struggle over autonomy and self determination, one that extends far beyond its borders and speaks to the fate of all nations unwilling to yield.

What this means: 1) Trump and his aides concluded that forcing the strait open would take longer than his 4–6 week timeline, so the plan is to wind down hostilities after degrading Iran's navy and missile capabilities. 2) The plan is then to push diplomatically for free passage and if that fails, lean on European and Gulf allies to lead the reopening effort. 3) Iran would then likely demand that Israel stop bombing before they agree to open. That shouldn't be a massive problem, since Israel is running out of targets there anyway. 4) Iran received a lot of money from oil and a lot of new weapons and technology. They will use that to rebuild their regional power. 5) It appears very likely that Iran is going to pursue a nuclear weapons seriously for the first time, instead of pursuing the goal of being a threshold state. 6) The United States will lose a lot of its influence in the Gulf and the Middle East due to this disaster. That will pave the path to Chinese domination in the region.

Israel and Trump sucking up to Russia whilst Russia provides targeting data and intel to Iran is ultimately hilarious, and traitorous. Things for the US to learn: Stop lying to us - it didn't work for Russia and turned the world against them, and it won't work for you. 'Damaged' E-3 Sentry turned out to be utterly destroyed. Stop lying to yourselves - Pull the head out of your arse, and realise that you aren't invulnerable, and you can be hit anywhere. Put better mitigation, especially at airfields, into effect. Improve your military PR - You've struck over ten thousand targets, and you're still putting out imagery of strikes on ancient aircraft or bulldozers. We can see the wiped bases on satellite Civilian casualties, whilst very low, still occurred - own up to them and take responsibility. It'll get found out in short order anyway. We can SEE that 99% of the strikes are insanely accurate. It puts 2003 Iraq strikes to shame with the accuracy of your strikes now - truly immense. But we know mistakes can and will happen. But the real story lies beneath the surface: in this crisis, each actor is playing its own game: – Saudi Arabia: wants to prevent escalation from linking Hormuz with a Houthi-driven Red Sea front (keeping Yanbu operational). – Egypt: focused on protecting Suez traffic and avoiding systemic disruption to global trade. – Turkey: positioning itself inside the diplomatic architecture while containing spillover risks on other fronts. – Pakistan: the key pivot,host, broker, and one of the few actors able to talk simultaneously to Tehran, Washington, Riyadh and Beijing. - For Pakistan, there is also a hard strategic calculation: preserving the balance between Iran, with which it has excellent relations, and Saudi Arabia, with which it has signed a defence pact. A direct Saudi entry into the war would have confronted Islamabad with a very difficult choice. Riyadh could well have asked Pakistan to honour its security commitments against Iran, creating one of the most dangerous dilemmas in Pakistan’s regional posture. This is why Islamabad has such a strong interest in a rapid diplomatic settlement: ending the crisis quickly is also a way to prevent its own balancing strategy from collapsing. Zooming out, this looks like the early shape of a regional diplomatic framework, possibly including ideas like coordinated maritime management or a Hormuz stabilization mechanism. But there is a structural tension: Tehran appears to be moving in a different direction-toward post-conflict direct control and legal frameworks over Hormuz, rather than shared governance. So what we are seeing is the emergence of two parallel tracks: – a multilateral, regionally backed de-escalation architecture. – and (at the moment) an Iranian preference for sovereign control enforced on the ground.

Trumps unwinnable forever war has already made Iran the recognized regional hegemon with undisputed full control of the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz something it never was or had in modern history. Russia is shipping thousands of improved Iranian drones to Iran to kill Americans trying to invade Kharg Island just as we have sent thousands of missiles and drones to Ukraine to kill Russians. The US has proven powerless to stop Iranian ballistic missile strikes which have destroyed 13 US military bases and destroyed or damaged over a dozen AWACS and refueling aircraft on the ground. The picture of a destroyed US AWACS aircraft is very telling about how Trump's unwinnable forever war in Iran will permanently end America's global empire and temporarily end our conventional military superpower status by breaking the US military for a decade to come. 
If the US is able to survive Trump's Deep State War against Iran, which it very well might not, Trumps poll numbers will be less than Herbert Hoover's when he left office during the Great Depression. Even among U.S. partners that normalized relations with Israel, such as the UAE and Bahrain, public unease is evident. Saudi Arabia, is unlikely to advance normalization under current conditions surrounding the Palestinian issue. The idea of a cohesive regional alignment against Iran remains overstated. 4. More fundamentally, the campaign’s implicit objective was not merely to degrade capabilities, but to alter the strategic landscape, ultimately by creating conditions for regime change. That outcome has not materialized. Instead, hardline leadership remains in place, now facing incentives to reassess its nuclear posture. A regime that feels both threatened and vindicated may be more,not less, inclined to pursue a nuclear weapon. 5. If the conflict ends under current conditions, Iran may emerge as the strategic winner despite suffering tactical losses. It can claim resilience in the face of sustained pressure from two of the world’s most capable militaries. Meanwhile, global competitors of the United States stand to benefit. Russia gains breathing room and geopolitical leverage, while China watches Washington become further entangled in the Middle East. 6. Even the situation in the Strait of Hormuz underscores the paradox. What was open at the outset of the conflict may now require diplomatic or military effort to reopen—turning a return to the status quo into a perceived achievement. 7. There would be no more positive development for the Middle East than the fall of the Iranian regime. That remains the strategic prize. But it is far from clear that the current campaign, as it stands, has advanced that outcome. If anything, there is a growing risk it has produced the opposite effect. 8. The more immediate question is how this ends. The administration faces a narrowing set of options, none of them particularly good. One path is a negotiated agreement. But under current conditions, such a deal is unlikely to be favorable. From Tehran’s perspective, the regime has withstood sustained military pressure and can claim a form of strategic resilience. It reduces any incentive to compromise on the core pillars of its security and ideology such as its missile program, its drone capabilities, and ultimately its nuclear posture. In short, there is no good option as long as this regime in Tehran remains in place and at present, it is not going anywhere. 9. There is also a second-order effect that deserves attention in Washington. The U.S.-Israel alliance remains a cornerstone of Israel’s security and long-term future. That is not in question. But it is less clear that this campaign strengthens Israel’s standing in the United States. On the contrary, prolonged conflict, especially one that lacks a clear strategic end state, risks deepening political and public friction. If United States is being drawn into an open-ended Middle Eastern conflict without a clear payoff, the political cost for Israel could become significant. The bottom line is clear - this has been a remarkable operational performance, driven by close coordination between U.S. Central Command and Israel. But if it concludes without meaningful strategic change, it will be remembered as a strategic failure.

Despite the unsubstantiated assurances from U.S. President Donald Trump, for which no evidence has been provided, that he had ordered a five-day pause in attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure on March 23, a new and highly dangerous air strike was carried out on March 24 extremely close to the operational Unit No. 1 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. We express our profound outrage at this reckless and provocative action carried out under this aggressive course of conduct. It appears that the attackers deliberately seek to trigger a major nuclear disaster in the region in order to cover up their criminal actions and fabricate justifications for them, which have already resulted in multiple civilian deaths in Iran. Washington and Western Jerusalem must harbor no illusions, as any attack on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant would inevitably lead to human and environmental consequences that cannot be remedied. So far, it has been mere good fortune that has averted a major disaster. However, air strikes are now being conducted even closer to the operational reactor unit. The lives of the nuclear power plant's staff, including Russian experts, are in constant danger. This situation is absolutely unacceptable to us. 2. But there is a growing blind spot in that analysis. It risks forgetting the most basic fact of this conflict: the United States is still the most powerful military machine on the planet. By a margin that is not marginal. 3. This is not a middling power trying to negotiate its way out of a corner. This is a country that can decide to escalate in ways nobody else can match. 4. The second blind spot is the man in the Oval Office. Trump has shown repeatedly that he is unusually resistant to being shaped by events. He reacts to pressure by doubling down, not stepping back. 5. Third, he is a second term president. That matters enormously. There is no electoral future to protect (Midterms aside). No campaign calculus to temper risk. The incentives change completely when the next election does not exist. 6. Fourth, Trump is deeply allergic to anything that looks remotely like a concession or a climbdown. Even when the narrative is fluid and post truth, the optics of retreat are something he instinctively rejects. 7. Fifth, the longer the perception builds that Iran has outplayed Washington, the greater the pressure on Trump to do something bold. Something sudden. Something few in the analyst class are currently modelling. 8. Sixth, there is one objective that Washington almost certainly cannot walk away from now: Iran’s enriched uranium. Exiting this war without seizing or neutralising that stockpile would be seen in Trump’s mind as failure. 9. Seventh, Trump clearly believes he is doing the world a favour. In his telling this is not just America’s fight. It is a service to the Gulf, to Israel, to the broader order that fears a nuclear Iran. 10. Eighth, he has escalation heft where it matters. Israel is already in the fight. Saudi Arabia and key Gulf states may not be on the front line but their political and logistical weight sits firmly on one side of this equation. 11. None of this erases the reality that Iran’s Hormuz leverage has been effective. It has changed the tone of the war and forced hesitation in Washington. 12.But the emerging consensus that Tehran now holds all the cards may itself be the next analytical trap.

2. The Strait of Hormuz was always a leverage point for the Iranians. Every war game known to man anticipated this, yet the Trump administration was apparently caught flat-footed to the point where it’s now allowing other countries to purchase Iranian oil to help calm the market. This policy change could net the regime another $14 billion, which means we’re now essentially funding the very adversary we’re currently fighting. Either Trump and his advisers don’t read or they’re laughably incompetent. Maybe both.

3. Congress has been pathetic throughout this entire ordeal. Not only has it failed to debate and authorize the war, but the congressional leadership has refused to even schedule open hearings to talk about it. And I’ll remind everybody that the war is almost one-month old. Mike Johnson, John Thune and the chairman of the various national security committees ought to be ashamed of themselves for turning a once-proud institution into a rubber-stamp body of useless specimens that can’t even do the most basic thing imaginable: oversight.

4. Trump’s decision to wage war in Iran is now undermining other aspects of his foreign policy. Russia is taking advantage of higher oil prices to fund the war in Ukraine, which makes Trump’s desire to strike a settlement there virtually impossible. China is happy to see the U.S. military bottled up in the Middle East yet again—I’ve lost track of how many U.S. military assets have been re-deployed out of Asia. And because Middle East oil is not a sure thing anymore, China will probably buy more from Russia, further solidifying the relationship between two powers that Trump would like to pull apart (although we can debate whether this would even be possible).  

5. Finally, the war exposes just how little we’ve learned as a country. People have short memories. The same public intellectuals and former officials who rooted for the war in Iraq are also rooting for the war in Iran. This could lead to heavy casualties among assaulting troops. We have all seen what drones have done in Ukraine. Trump has landed himself in a mess by his ill-thought-through invasion of Iran. He would be well advised to cut costs and call it off even now. No wonder Joe Kent ( his CT head- a former Green Beret) has resigned. Never reinforce a failure. So far, Iran has shown dominance in escalation. Haifa refinery and Tel Aviv have been hit hard. 16 US aircraft are down. Two aircraft carriers were damaged and forced to retreat. A2 AD will kick in, and USS Tripoli and Boxer could well be welcomed by missiles/ drone swarms. Choppers are vulnerable to Russian Sams with Flare filters. Additional exports declining: → Condensates: Down 24% → LPG: Down 13% → Naphtha: Down 6% → Sulphur: Down 6% → Helium: Down 14% The damaged trains: → Train S4 and S6: 30% owned by ExxonMobil, rest by QatarEnergy Production cannot restart until hostilities cease. What this means? 12.8 million tonnes per year = 17% of Qatar's LNG capacity. 17% of its capacity just disappeared for 3-5 years. Italy, Belgium, South Korea, China: These countries had long-term contracts with Qatar. Force majeure means those contracts are suspended. They now have to compete in spot markets for replacement cargoes. Against each other. And against every other buyer scrambling for LNG. $20 billion per year in lost revenue for Qatar. $26 billion in facilities damaged. The only country with capacity to absorb Qatari volumes at scale is the United States.

Walt once again reduces American strategy to an Israeli conspiracy. That is not serious analysis.
