Lifology: Midlife crisis

17 June 2020
I am going to die. Lifology - Philosophy of life

A midlife crisis can hit us all. We all are human beings. We may commit mistakes when we are around forty years of age. According to some research, one in four adults aged between 40 and 59 experience it. Women tend to experience it earlier - between 35 and 44.

According to Sharon Stephenson, "women tend to look inwards to find out what is missing from their lives. Men tend to look outwards." Psychologist Elliot Jaques coined the term 'midlife crisis.' Robyn says, ' Men are more likely to feel unstabilized by career issues, whereas family or personal dissatisfaction is often what rocks the boat for women.'

According to research from the University of Newcastle, women were too busy taking care of other people to explore their own needs and desires and afford themselves the luxury of a midlife crisis.
Sometimes it looks like we have everything - a loving partner, good and well-behaved children,  caring friends, a beautiful house and family business, or regular income from some sources. But still, some are not satisfied. We want something more and feel as if we are missing something.

Sometimes, we are not satisfied with our jobs or career and feel that we are underpaid.

In many cases, we take challenges and accept changes in a job, a career, or a partner. We are just mentally not happy. We are unable to conceptualize success and what we want from life.

"Ueber leg in deinem leben was sich lohnt was du tuest was do lieber sein laesst." Think about what is important in your life, what you can do, and what you just want to forget.

No western media teaches happiness or means to achieve happiness with material or without material. Society becomes traumatized by the fear of the unknown. Money or status is the only measurement for a successful life. Health, happiness, peace of mind are forgotten.

It is the fact that everything is related to money. According to Prof Harker, we all have limited resources but unlimited needs or desires. To satisfy these desires - basic or artificially created desires - we all work hard and waste most of our time in fools' paradise. During this period of life, we do not care for human development.

Some parents can create good and strong bonds between children and parents. But many others learn to fight or flight. Unfortunately, schools and universities are failing to teach young or elderly "Lifology." We can teach children with our examples. Simple living and high thinking must be the motto for every individual.

We learn that violence is in the culture of some societies. However, we do not know how we can change and construct new culture.

Please understand: love begets love. Hatred begets hatred. Violence begets violence. Learn methods to forget ego and control anger. Let love overtake money, ego, and anger. Emotions are important, but emotions should unite people, not divide people.
